Kato's Sakura-con Animation Cel Panel Page
There was interest in continuing a panel discussion about the artwork used in anime and the animation process, so I found myself saying, Ok I will do a panel at the next con....then it hit me.....

Oh my goddess! I said I would do what at Sakura-con?!!!

Ok breath deeply.....maybe no one will notice you dont know what youre doing........maybe use some nice graphics.....talk to a few people in the industry. Then I came across some really nice people who DO know what they are talking about. They helped me put the presentation materials you find here together. To them and my fellow panelists I want to say Arigatoo Gozaimashita!, thanks so much! I learned alot.

Outline

Here is the general outline that I thought we would use as a guide to the discussion. Click on the bugs to view the documents.

Power Point Presentation

Here is the Power Point presentation developed by my friend Prof. Bill Ellis, a fellow cel/sketch collector and cosplayer! I added additional elements and sketches/backgrounds and He kindly gave us permission to use the materials he developed for our panel. He also has alot of nice info on his web page. I have a link to it and many of your great sites on the "About Anime Cels" tab on my site. The best way to view it is to save it to your computer and watch it with Power Point viewer (you can get the free viewer from microsoft)

Anime Sketch, Cel Chart

I thought I would use the chart below, printed out in a large scale to use as a reference (and as a back up incase some techno demon makes it impossible to show the power point presentation)

I think it would be good to have examples of each of the steps of the animation process on hand to show the audience. I think we all have most of the pieces we need and I will email each of you to find out what you can bring to make sure we have all the elements covered.

Poster

Below is a poster I made that I though would be useful to help draw people into the room. (click on it to see a larger version)

I plan to add time and room number when i can.

Conservation

Some interesting info on cel conservation that I thought we might use

Interviews

Here is my interview with Peter Bortz, ower of Animation Sensations, a Cel restoration/conservation specialist who has done restorations for Disney.
